An old statement of Gautam Gambhir is going viral which could prove to be a warning bell for Rishabh Pant.

Team India is going to get a new head coach soon. According to media reports, Gautam Gambhir can take up this position from the Sri Lanka tour. Meanwhile, an old statement of GG has gone viral which he had given on wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant. This statement of Gambhir can now prove to be a warning bell for Pant.

Actually, in the year 2022, Gautam Gambhir had said some harsh words looking at Rishabh Pant's poor form in the limited overs format.

Gautam Gambhir had said that 'Rishabh Pant has got a lot of opportunities in limited overs cricket. He got a chance to open and bat at number three, four, five and six, but he could not live up to these opportunities.'

He further said that 'I think Pant should now focus on red ball cricket, which will not be bad for him because this will keep his full focus on one format. By doing this, he will be able to focus on his wicketkeeping and how to bat at number 5 or number 6 in Test cricket.'

Indian cricket fans have this question in their mind that since Gautam Gambhir can now become the new head coach of the team, will he remove Rishabh Pant from the limited overs team as soon as he enters the team? Let us tell you that this may or may not happen. We are saying this because while Rishabh Pant scores runs at an average of 43 in Test cricket, in T20 International and ODI cricket this average falls down to 22.70 and 34.60.

If Gautam Gambhir becomes the new head coach of the team and even then Rishabh Pant fails in limited overs cricket despite getting opportunities, then there is no doubt that GG can take decisions against him.

But also know that ever since Rishabh Pant has returned to the cricket field after recovering from a car accident, his performance has been amazing. He was the highest run scorer for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024, while in the T20 World Cup 2024 for India, he scored 171 runs and scored the most runs for the team at number three. In such a situation, it would not be wrong to say that now Rishabh Pant's future is in his own hands.
