The series was played between India and South Africa

Actually, the African team visited India in the year 2000 and during this period a two match Test and a five match ODI series was played between the two teams and at that time this series was a topic of much discussion.

Now the court has given its verdict on this series that some matches of the series were fixed. Former South African star all-rounder Hansie Cronje was involved in this fixing and now the court has also confirmed this.

The first test match was fixed

The first test match between India and Africa was played at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. In this match, two African players did match fixing and apart from Hansie Cronje, Peter Strydom was also involved in it. Both of them while talking about this fixing had accepted this in front of the Kings Commission.

It was decided that the African team would not score more than 250 runs in the first innings and this is what happened as the African team was all out for 176 runs in the first innings. Apart from this, an attempt was also made to fix the second test match but it was not possible.

The first ODI match was fixed

The first ODI match played in Kochi on 9 March 2000 was completely fixed and the court has also accepted this. The court has accepted that the recorded conversation of Hansie Cronje proves that this match was fixed. In this, he can be heard asking for payment. Apart from this, he had also done this fixing for the next matches along with Herschelle Gibbs but it could not be successful.

Apart from this, Hansie Cronje also admitted before the Kings Commission that he had given the scores of other matches, which helped others in earning money and betting.
