PCB wants writtern proof from BCCI: The tussle between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the BCCI regarding the Champions Trophy 2025 is not coming to an end. While on one hand the Indian board is refusing to go to Pakistan, on the other hand the PCB wants Team India to play cricket in their country after a long time. The BCCI has always cited the reason for not going to Pakistan as not getting permission from the Indian government. Therefore, this time the PCB has asked the BCCI for written proof regarding the Indian government's stand.
The Pakistan Cricket Board wants the BCCI to provide written proof that the Indian government has not allowed Team India to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy next year, citing security reasons. All teams are ready to tour Pakistan for this tournament to be held in February-March, but it seems difficult for the Indian team to go.
“If the Indian government denies permission, it should be in writing and it is mandatory for the BCCI to provide this letter to the ICC. It is true that we have been insisting that the BCCI should inform the ICC in writing about its plans to travel to Pakistan at least 5-6 months before the tournament,” a top PCB source working closely with the organising committee told PTI.
Let us tell you that the PCB has already submitted the Champions Trophy 2025 schedule draft to the ICC, according to which the tournament will start in Karachi on February 19 and end with the final in Lahore on March 9. Apart from this, all the matches of India will be played in Lahore. If the Indian team reaches the semi-finals or finals, those matches will also be held in Lahore, while India and Pakistan will face each other on March 1.
At the same time, if media reports are to be believed, there is no possibility of Team India going to Pakistan at this time. If this happens, then the ICC will have to give extra budget to PCB so that it can organize India's matches at another place. A PCB source confirmed this and said that the ICC management is recommending additional cost because if such a situation (Indian team not going to Pakistan) arises later, then it will be necessary to play some matches outside Pakistan.
Let us tell you that there will be no discussion on the 'hybrid model' in the ICC's annual conference to be held in Colombo on July 19. However, the BCCI's agenda here will be that Team India should get permission to play all the matches in the Champions Trophy 2025 in the UAE. If this happens, the ICC will have to give extra funds to the host board, as has been done before.
