Hardik Pandya has reportedly requested the BCCI to not pick him in the squad for Sri Lanka ODIs due to personal reasons. The star all-rounder, who is a contender to replace Rohit Sharma as the new T20I captain of India, has made himself available for the preceding T20I series which starts from July 27.
As per a report by The Indian Express, Hardik Pandya has cited personal reasons for his unavailability. The ODI leg of India's white-ball tour of Sri Lanka starts from August 2 in Colombo. Hardik Pandya recently starred in India's T20 World Cup title triumph in West Indies. He bowled the 20th over in the final against South Africa as India needed to defend 16. Pandya showed nerves of steel and picked the wicket of dangerous David Miller on the first ball of the final over. He also dismissed Kagiso Rabada and gave away just eight runs to end India's 13-year wait for an ICC World Cup title. A roadshow was organised for Hardik Pandya in his hometown Baroda on Monday, July 15. The vice-captain of India's white-ball team is in fray to become the new T20I captain of India. Reports have suggested that he is facing competition from his Mumbai Indians teammate Suryakumar Yadav. Hardik Pandya was recently spotted at the wedding ceremony of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. He was spotted dancing with Bollywood actress Ananya Pandey, and also ordered a couple of tequila shots to enjoy his time away from cricket. The 30-year-old is reportedly having a strained relationship with his wife Natasa Stankovic. The couple have not yet addressed the divorce rumours which have been doing rounds for almost two months now.
