Veteran Indian spinner Amit Mishra, who often stays away from the limelight, recently gave an interview in which he made many statements about Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill. During this, Mishra also raised questions on Shubman Gill being made the Indian captain for the recently concluded T20 series against Zimbabwe.

Mishra even called Gill an unwise captain, while on the other hand, Gill defeated Zimbabwe 4-1 in the T20 series under his captaincy. Shubman Gill was made the captain of Gujarat Titans after Hardik Pandya moved to Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2024. However, the first IPL season for Gill as a captain was no less than a nightmare and his team could not even reach the playoffs.

Under his captaincy, the team won only 5 out of 14 matches and failed to reach the playoffs for the first time. The Gujarat team finished 8th in the points table. In such a situation, the veteran spinner looked very unhappy with Shubman's captaincy and he spoke openly on Shubhankar Mishra's podcast on YouTube and questioned the decision to hand over the captaincy to Gill.
