Veteran Indian spinner Amit Mishra, who often stays away from the limelight, recently gave an interview in which he answered many questions openly. During this, when he was asked whether the Lucknow Supergiants team will retain KL Rahul as captain in the next IPL season, his answer was that the Lucknow team is looking for a new captain.

The Lucknow team has failed to progress beyond the eliminator twice under Rahul's captaincy and in the 2024 season, the team also failed to qualify for the playoffs. Leg-spinner Amit Mishra, who returned to the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2023 after a gap of 3 years under KL Rahul's leadership, made a shocking statement about Rahul's captaincy beyond the 2024 season.

In a recent podcast, Mishra was asked if KL Rahul will captain LSG next season, to which he replied, “The franchise (LSG) will definitely look for better captaincy options for the next season.”

Rahul has captained LSG since the team came into existence with Gujarat Titans (GT) in 2022. Earlier, Rahul also captained Punjab Kings but he was not so successful there too, so it should not be a surprise if the Sanjiv Goenka-owned franchise removes Rahul as captain. In IPL 2024, under Rahul's captaincy, the Lucknow team finished in 7th place with 14 points.
