ICC will lose crores in T20 World Cup 2024

The ICC had decided to organize the T20 World Cup 2024 in America to promote cricket there. The ICC was fully expecting the tournament to be a hit in America, but it did not happen at all. According to media reports, the ICC has suffered a loss of more than Rs 160 crore by organizing the T20 World Cup in America.

It is believed that the US leg of the tournament had incurred more expenditure than the budget and the ICC Board may discuss this loss during the annual meeting to be held on July 19 in Colombo. A temporary Nassau County International Cricket Stadium was built in the US for the tournament, which was later demolished. Tournament director Chris Tetley has also resigned. During the T20 World Cup, the stadiums were seen completely empty in many matches, due to which the ICC had to face huge losses.

Only group stage matches were played in America. Many teams including India and Pakistan played group stage matches in America. During this time, there was a big uproar on the pitch of Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. Many low scoring matches were seen here.
