India pacer Mohammed Shami has revealed two players who are his best friends in the Indian cricket team. Shami, who has been out with an ankle injury since the 2023 World Cup, recently spoke about a plethora of things in a podcast with YouTuber Shubhankar Mishra, where he opened up on the relations with his peers in the team.
"Virat Kohli and Ishant Sharma are my best friends. They are the ones who call me and check on me when I am injured and in recovery," Shami said on Shubhankar Mishra's YouTube channel. Shami posted an update about his recovery on social media. In a video on Instagram, he is seen cautiously bowling a few deliveries during training. Despite recovering from his ankle injury, he is not yet bowling at full intensity. Shami underwent surgery earlier this year to repair his injured ankle. His recovery took longer than expected, causing him to miss IPL 2024 and the T20 World Cup. Despite playing through injury in the 2023 World Cup, Shami was the tournament's highest wicket-taker. He claimed 24 wickets in seven matches at an average of 10.70. Shami takes a dig at Inzamam In the podcast, Shami also took a dig at former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq for his comments on Arshdeep Singh where he accused the India pacer of ball tampering. The pacer dismissed the ball-tampering allegations and promised that he would show the Pakistanis how to reverse the ball when they play in the Champions Trophy. "If I visit Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, I will take those three balls along with me and will show them that there were no devices in them. I will cut the balls into two pieces in front of 20 people. They can search for the devices then. I will also show them how reverse swing is achieved. These words are ludicrous and have no base. There are 40 cameras these days and any tampering gets caught," he added.
