Difficulty increased in Sri Lanka, this star player out of Team India, left hand finger broken

India's women's cricket team is in Sri Lanka for the T20 Asia Cup. The tournament started on 19th July, in which the Indian team played its first match against arch-rival Pakistan. India won the match but the team's star player Shreyanka Patil got injured. Due to the injury, Shreyanka has had to be out of the Asia Cup. Tanuja Kanwar has replaced Shreyanka in the Indian women's team playing the Asia Cup.

When did Shreyanka's finger break?

The Asian Cricket Council issued a press release on Saturday, July 20, stating that Shreyanka has broken a finger on her left hand. The Indian off-spinner suffered this injury while catching a catch in the match against Pakistan. However, she completed bowling against Pakistan even after the injury. She took 2 wickets for 14 runs in 3.2 overs.

Shreyanka's left hand has been injured earlier also

This is not the first time that Shreyanka Patil has suffered such an injury. Earlier during WPL 2024, she also suffered a hairline fracture in her left hand, due to which she had to miss a few matches there. However, she returned in the final and took 4 wickets. Shreyanka not only got the Purple Cap in WPL 2024 but she also became the Emerging Player of the Tournament.

Tanuja Kanwar got a chance for the first time

Tanuja Kanwar has replaced Shreyanka Patil in the Asia Cup. This 26-year-old left-arm spinner has got a place in the Indian team for the first time. However, she was included in the traveling reserve for the Asia Cup. Tanuja Kanwar has also got a place in the women's India A team touring Australia from 7 August. Tanuja made an impression with her performance in WPL 2024. Tanuja was the leading wicket-taker of Gujarat Giants, taking 10 wickets in 8 matches at an economy of 7.13.
