Gautam Gambhir, the new head coach of the Indian cricket team, held his first press conference on Monday (July 22) before leaving for Sri Lanka for the T20 and ODI series. During this, chief selector Ajit Agarkar was also present with him. During this, Gambhir replied to a question asked by a journalist Indian Team Gave a big statement regarding her relationship with star batsman Virat Kohli.

Gambhir said, “My relationship with Virat Kohli is between the two of us and is not for TRP. After I became the coach, Virat Kohli and I talked through messages. I have a very good relationship with him. Kohli is a world class athlete, a world class cricketer. Both of us will work hard together to make our team win the match.

It is worth noting that there have been heated exchanges between Gambhir and Kohli on the field many times. For the first time, during the match between KKR and RCB during IPL 2013, there was a rift between the two on the field. After this, something similar was seen in IPL 2023, when Gambhir was the mentor of the Lucknow Super Giants team and Kohli was playing for RCB.

However, while being the mentor of KKR in IPL 2024, he hugged Kohli after meeting him.

This is Gambhir's first series as head coach. The Indian team will play three T20 International matches and three ODI matches on the Sri Lanka tour. Kohli is part of the Indian team for the ODI series.
