Ravindra Jadeja: The last few times have not been good for Team India's number-1 all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. In fact, the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 was not very special for him personally. Jadeja failed to perform well with both the ball and the bat.
As soon as the tournament ended, the 35-year-old cricketer said goodbye to T20 International. After this, he was also dropped from the ODI team on the Sri Lanka tour. In such a situation, some cricket experts started claiming that the career of this senior player in white ball cricket is over. However, the new head coach of the Indian team Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar have put an end to these speculations.

BCCI recently announced the squad for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour. The most surprising thing was that Ravindra Jadeja was not given a place in the ODI team. However, his performance in the 50 over format has been decent for some time now.
In the ICC World Cup 2023, apart from taking a total of 16 wickets, he played a brilliant innings in the match against New Zealand. In such a situation, his non-selection was a bit surprising. At the same time, this cricketer from Gujarat is going to make a comeback in the next series. Jadeja can be a part of the team from the next series in place of Washington Sundar, who has been selected in the ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Ajit Agarkar said, “There was no point in picking both Axar and Jadeja. One would have benched anyways. Jadeja has not dropped. A long Test season is coming”. pic.twitter.com/8CGz78jlOr

Before leaving for the Sri Lanka tour on the morning of 22 July, the new head coach of the Indian team Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar arrived for a press conference. During this, they met the journalists and answered all their questions.
Responding to the question of Ravindra Jadeja being dropped, Agarkar said that he has been given rest. Axar Patel has been given a chance in the team as an experiment. Jadeja is not out of Team India's ODI scheme at the moment. Expressing his views, he said,
“It made no sense to pick both Axar and Jadeja. Someone would have been benched anyway. Jadeja has not been dropped. There is a long Test season coming up in which he will be seen in action.”
