The Indian cricket team has left for the neighboring country of Sri Lanka for the white ball tour. On this tour Indian Team Team India will play 3 T20 matches and 3 ODI series. Team India's head coach Gautam Gambhir left for the airport soon after addressing his first press conference after taking charge.

Before the Indian team leaves for Sri Lanka, a video is going viral in which Hardik Pandya can be seen hugging the newly appointed assistant coach Abhishek Nair as soon as he meets him. It is worth noting that Hardik will only participate in the T20 series and that too as a player because the selectors have made Suryakumar Yadav the captain in the T20 format.

While Shubman Gill has been made the vice-captain in all three formats. He was considered a contender to take over the captaincy of the shortest format after Rohit Sharma announced his retirement. However, BCCI chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar stressed that Hardik is an important player for the team, but his fitness challenges influenced the decision.

Agarkar said, 'Suryakumar Yadav was made the captain because he is one of the eligible candidates. He is one of the best T20I batsmen. You want a captain who can play all the matches. Hardik Pandya's fitness has been a challenge for him.'
