Recently BCCI announced the selection committee for the three-match T20 International and ODI series to be played on the Sri Lanka tour. Indian Team was announced. It was expected that wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson would be given a place in the team of both formats but this did not happen. Sanju has been included in T20 International but he has been shown the way out of ODI.

Sanju should have been included in the team because he scored a century in his last ODI. Many former cricketers and experts have expressed their displeasure over not including Sanju in the ODI team and now Robin Uthappa's name has also been added to this list. Uthappa believes that Sanju may have to suffer even more in the future.

Uthappa said, “From Sanju's point of view, this is not the first time he has gone through this? I don't think it will be the last time he will go through this as a player, but Sanju's ODI numbers have been quite impressive. I think, again, with the change in the leadership group or the changes within the leadership group. Things have to settle down a bit and we as fans and supporters of the Indian cricket team have to give space for that to settle down.”

The former cricketer further added, “So, I think Sanju is not out of contention like any other player, I think. It is a matter of time, and he will get opportunities, but when the opportunities come, he has to make use of those opportunities to ensure that he comes up with a stellar performance that keeps him in the race.”

Indian Team The team has reached Sri Lanka with the new head coach Gautam Gambhir. The Sri Lanka tour will begin with the T20 International series from July 27. The team will be led by Suryakumar Yadav. The ODI series will begin from October 2.
