Robin Uthappa on Hardik Pandya not getting t20i captaincy: The month of July has not been special so far for Hardik Pandya, who made a significant contribution with the ball and bat in helping India win the trophy in the T20 World Cup 2024. Hardik was troubled about his personal life and then he also lost the chance to become the new T20 captain of Team India. Many people feel that the BCCI has not done the right thing by appointing Suryakumar Yadav as the T20 captain in place of Hardik and injustice has been done to the all-rounder. However, former Indian player Robin Uthappa does not think so and he described this decision as good for Hardik.

In fact, for the last one year, Hardik Pandya was the biggest contender for the T20 International captaincy and when Rohit announced his retirement, it was believed that this all-rounder player would be given the command. However, this did not happen and Suryakumar Yadav was sent to Sri Lanka as the new T20 captain of Team India. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar cited Hardik's fitness and workload as the reason behind this decision. Robin Uthappa also feels that it is not possible for Hardik to play every match and he is a special player, which is why he needs extra care.

Speaking to the media on Sony Sports Network, Robin Uthappa said, “If I were in Hardik's place, I would actually feel that the decision has been taken in my interest to some extent. If I am 34-35 years old and I am someone who has been plagued by injuries throughout his career and a certain responsibility has been taken away from me with the mindset of extending my career and giving me the best opportunity to serve my country, then in that sense it is the best thing.”

Uthappa further said, “If you ask me what I would choose as a human being, I would say serving my country and winning many World Cup championships, whether I am the captain or I am just a player. Hardik Pandya will feel after one such match that it is right. They want a player of my level and my caliber to serve the country for a long time, and I would also like to do so.”
