Indian cricket team's star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has given his first reaction on Hardik Pandya being booed in IPL.
Hardik Pandya had to face the anger of Indian fans during IPL 2024. Fans booed and even abused Pandya during every match of Mumbai Indians. After the T20 World Cup, Pandya undoubtedly became a hero for these fans, but he can hardly forget the treatment meted out to him by the fans during IPL 2024.
Now India's leading fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has given his first reaction on Hardik Pandya being booed. Bumrah revealed that despite the adverse circumstances, Hardik's mental toughness was important. Bumrah admitted that the emotions of the fans in the country are attached to the game and the players are also very emotional, so it was natural for all this to happen.
Jasprit Bumrah said in an interview to the Indian Express, “We understand that we live in a country where emotions are really a topic of discussion. This is an emotion-driven country. We understand that fans get emotional and players are also emotional. It does matter that you are an Indian player and you are playing in India. Your own fans are saying this about you. But it is like that. You have to take it upon yourself. How can you go there and stop people?”
Speaking further, Bumrah said, “If you start focusing on yourself, you try to close that door. It's not that easy. They are shouting and you can hear it, but again, the inner circle helps you. We, as a team, don't encourage it, we don't promote it, we don't think it's fair. Now, the world can think whatever it wants. We were talking to him as a team, if he needed support, his family would always be with him. Some things are out of your control. If it happens, it happens. You can't take it seriously. Because, again, people are praising. It doesn't mean it's the be all and end all. A few days later, if we lose another game, the story might change. You understand that's the way it is.”
