Especially the captain of a team is one of the biggest names of that country. Although, due to this they are given a lot of respect, but even a small mistake can prove to be costly for them at times. An accusation can ruin their entire career. We have seen many examples in India. A similar case has now been seen in Nepal. Sandeep Lamichhane, who was the captain of the Nepal cricket team, was accused of rape and two years of his career were wasted.

Rape case turned out to be fake

Sandeep Lamichhane is one of the talented cricketers of Nepal. He earned fame at a very young age due to his brilliant bowling. Sandeep also performed brilliantly for Delhi Capitals in IPL and became a big name in his country. After this, he was made the captain of the Nepal team, then in 2022 he was accused of raping an 18-year-old girl. After this, he was banned in some leagues. After this, he was also sentenced to jail, although after fighting the case for two years, he was acquitted this year. Now the victim girl has revealed that there was no sexual harassment against her. Some people and organizations forced her to file a case, she herself did not want to register a case. That is, 2 years of Sandeep's career were wasted in a fake case.

8 years imprisonment, 5 lakh fine

After the rape case was filed, an arrest warrant was issued against Sandeep Lamichhane, when he was playing the Caribbean Premier League. He was arrested as soon as he returned from there. The lower court then found him guilty and sentenced him to 8 years in prison and ordered him to pay a fine of Rs 3 lakh and a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the victim girl. After getting the sentence, Lamichhane declared himself innocent on social media. Then he went to the High Court of Nepal to get justice, where the court acquitted him just before the T20 World Cup. Despite this, America did not approve his visa. Due to this, he could not play matches for his team in America.
