Paris Olympics 2024 has officially started from 26th July. On Friday night, the historic opening ceremony of the games was organized on the Seine river in Paris. The medal rounds of many sports also started the next day i.e. on 27th July. On this day, Indian athletes participated in a total of 7 sports. Although India missed the chance to win a medal on the first day, the performance of badminton, shooting and hockey was morale-boosting. While Manu Bhaker qualified for the final in shooting, many athletes have reached the next round.
Manu Bhaker performed brilliantly in the 10 meter air pistol women's event and has reached its final. She scored a total of 580 points in 6 series of games. With this, she has also made a record. Manu Bhaker is the first female shooter to qualify in the final of an individual shooting event in the Olympics after 20 years. Before her, Suma Shirur had reached the final of 10 meter air rifle in the 2004 Olympics. Now their final match for the medal will be held on Sunday at 3.30 pm.
It was a good day for India in badminton at the Paris Olympics. Lakshya Sen performed brilliantly in the men's singles badminton on the first day of the Paris Olympics. He started with a win by defeating Argentina's Kevin Gordon 21-8, 22-20 in his first group round match. Now his next match will be against Julian Caraggi on Monday, which will be his second group round match.
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty won in the men's doubles of badminton. They defeated French players Lucas Corvee and Ronan Labar 21-17 and 21-14. Now their second group stage match will be held on 29 July.
The day ended in a great way for India. India's last match was hockey. In this, India faced New Zealand in Group B. In this thrilling match, Team India defeated New Zealand 3-2.
