Team India's T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav has dominated the Sri Lanka tour to such an extent that he has made a world record in his name at the fastest time. In this case, there is a gap of 56 between him and Virat Kohli. Now you must have understood one thing that that world record must have been in the name of Virat Kohli earlier. Talking about the gap of 56, this is the difference in the number of matches between Suryakumar and Virat Kohli. This means that Suryakumar Yadav has played 56 matches less than Virat Kohli to reach the world record set by him in T20 International.
Suryakumar Yadav scored 58 runs in just 26 balls in the first T20 against Sri Lanka. His strike rate during the 42 minutes of batting was 223.07, which included 2 sixes and 8 fours. Suryakumar Yadav was chosen as the Player of the Match for this explosive innings, with which he equaled the world record set by Virat Kohli. But, if we look at the fastest time in making this world record, then Surya was far ahead of Virat.
Virat Kohli has been selected as Player of the Match 16 times in T20 International, which is a record. He made this record in 125 matches. In the first T20I against Sri Lanka, Suryakumar Yadav has equaled Virat Kohli's record of winning 16 Player of the Match. However, there is a gap of 56 in the number of T20I matches played between the two. This means that Surya played 56 T20I matches less than Virat to win 16 Player of the Match. Suryakumar Yadav achieved this success in just the 69th match.
Suryakumar Yadav is now sure to overtake Virat Kohli in the race to become the most Player of the Match in T20 International. But, he may face tough competition from Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza in this matter. Sikandar Raza has won 15 Player of the Match awards in 91 T20I matches. Mohammad Nabi has become Player of the Match 14 times in 129 T20I matches. On the other hand, Virandeep Singh has won the Player of the Match award 14 times for the team in just 78 T20I matches.
