The medal rounds started on the first day of Paris Olympics 2024 i.e. on 27th July, but India missed the opportunity on this day. However, the second day was very historic for India, as India's account has been opened in the medal tally. On the second day, shooter Manu Bhaker won the first medal for India. She won the bronze medal in 10m air pistol. Apart from this, many big players performed brilliantly and qualified for the next round. Some athletes have also entered the finals, which means the hopes of increasing the number of medals of India in the tally have increased further. Let us know how the athletes of India have performed on the second day of Paris Olympics.
Like the last two Olympics, this time too India's daughter started the medals. 22-year-old Manu Bhaker scored 221.7 points in the women's 10 meter air pistol event and won the bronze medal. With this, Bhaker has also created history. She has become the first female player to win an Olympic medal in shooting. Earlier, she had finished seventh in the Tokyo Olympics. At that time her pistol malfunctioned and Manu was able to hit only 14 shots. Due to this, she had to be out of the final race.
Shooting brought another good news for India. India's Ramita Jindal has confirmed her place in the final of the women's 10 meter air rifle. She finished 5th with 631.5 points. Apart from her, Arjun Babuta also performed brilliantly. He participated in the men's 10 meter air rifle event. During this, Arjun made it to the top 8 in the qualification round and confirmed his place in the final. His final match will be held on Monday, July 29 at 3.30 pm.
India's star badminton player PV Sindhu also made a great start. She defeated Maldives badminton player Fathimath Nabaha Abdul Razzaq 21-09, 21-06.
