Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is often known for mankading batsmen at the non-striker's end. He has often done this on many occasions but on Sunday, 28 July, he got a taste of his own medicine when he was playing in the 28th match of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2024 at the NPR College Ground in Dindigul.

Actually, what happened was that when Ashwin was batting during the match, he stepped out of the crease at the non-striker's end before the bowler bowled the ball, due to which the bowler gave him a warning before Mankading him. This incident happened during the first innings of the match when left-arm spinner Mohan Prasad came to bowl the 15th over of the innings.

However, the replay showed that R Ashwin's bat was inside the line when the bowler stopped to warn him. There was a lot of uproar on social media regarding this incident and users started reacting. Ashwin also responded to a user's ex-post. It was said in this post that even if the bowler had dropped the bails, he would still have been not out.

Ashwin agreed with the user and shared a screenshot of the old version of the run-out rule at the non-striker's end, which stated, “Law 38.3, which relates to 'Non-striker leaving his ground early', states: 'From the moment the ball comes into play until the moment when the bowler would normally be expected to release the ball, the non-striker may be run out if he is out of his ground.'”

After this message, he also shared a laughing emoji, which read 'Those people don't know the rules.' This statement of Ashwin was on the commentators because during the match they themselves had said in the commentary that Ashwin has been warned. Ashwin performed averagely for his team Dindigul Dragons. The captain was run out after scoring 15 runs off 13 balls and his team collapsed at 136 runs.
