This Pakistani will replace Jay Shah! A big change is going to happen in Asian cricket

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah is also the President of the Asian Cricket Council since 2021. He has been doing great work for cricket across Asia for a long time. But his tenure is going to end at the end of this year. In such a situation, a big update has come out regarding who will replace Jay Shah as the new president of the Asian Cricket Council. A veteran from Pakistan is leading in this race.

ACC is going to get a new president

According to reports, Mohsin Naqvi can be made the new president of ACC. Pakistan Cricket Board's current president Naqvi is set to be made the new president of ACC under the rotation policy. Let us tell you, the matter of the post of president was discussed in the recent ACC meeting in which Naqvi is in the race to become the next president. ACC will hold a meeting later this year, where a decision can be taken on this issue.

Jay Shah first became the chairman of the ACC in January 2021. He took over the post in place of Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hasan. After this, earlier this year, Jay Shah got a one-year extension for his tenure. At the same time, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi as its president for a term of three years in February 2024.

Two successful tournaments during Jai Shah's tenure

During Jai Shah's tenure, the ACC successfully organized the Asia Cup in T20 format in 2022 and in ODI format in 2023, demonstrating Asia's ability to host major cricket events. Apart from this, big news has also come recently on the hosting of the next two Asia Cups. India will host the 2025 Men's Asia Cup. This tournament will be played in 20 overs format. In which 6 teams will participate. At the same time, the 2027 Asia Cup will be hosted by Bangladesh. The 2027 Asia Cup will be in ODI format only.
