Before the mega auction of Indian Premier League 2025, a meeting of all the 10 IPL teams was held in Mumbai in which the owners of these teams together have placed a big demand in front of the IPL Governing Council. All the teams have demanded action against those players who suddenly withdraw their names after being sold in the auction. According to reports, IPL teams have demanded a two-year ban on foreign players who suddenly withdraw their names. Not only this, along with this, the teams have demanded that it should be made mandatory for foreign players to register their names in the mega auction.
There are reports that all the teams are very unhappy with the foreign players. The teams say that foreign players suddenly withdraw their names after the IPL auction, which has a deep impact on the team's performance and strategy. Due to their sudden departure, the teams have to bet on other players. The teams said that if a player gets injured, he can be given a discount, but many players withdraw their names because of the low price they get in the auction. The teams said that many foreign players withdraw their names because they are sold at the base price. Later their managers say that if they had got a little more price, that player would definitely have played in the IPL.
Now the question is, why have the franchises demanded foreign players to register their names in the mega auction? According to media reports, IPL teams believe that many big foreign players prefer to register their names in the mini auction instead of the mega auction. Actually, fewer big players participate in the mini auction, due to which they have the possibility of getting a bigger amount. At the same time, due to more big names in the mega auction, the bid does not go up much. For example, in the mega auction held in 2022, Ishan Kishan was sold for the highest amount of 15.25 crores. At the same time, in the mini auction held last year, Pat Cummins was sold for 20.50 crores, Mitchell Starc for 24.75 crores. Franchisees also want to end this trick of foreign players.
