It is every player's dream to win a medal in the Olympics. This time a unique record of winning medals in swimming event has been seen. 22-year-old French swimmer Leon Mashon has done such a feat in Paris Olympics 2024 which was seen earlier in 1976. Leon Mashon, who took training from Bob Bowman, former coach of famous Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, has won 3 medals in this Olympics so far.
31st July was a memorable day for Leon Machon. He won gold medals in 200m butterfly and 200m breaststroke. For the first time since 1976, a swimmer has won two gold medals in a single day at the Olympic Games. He defeated Hungary's current champion and world record holder Kristof Milak to win the gold medal in 200m butterfly. He also won the 200m breaststroke with an Olympic record time of 2:05.85. With this, he also became the first player from France to win three gold medals in swimming.
Born in Toulouse, France, 22-year-old Leon Machon has roots in swimming. Leon Machon's father, Xavier, represented France at the Atlanta Games in 1996 and the Sydney Olympics in 2000. Xavier finished 8th in the 200m individual medley at Atlanta 1996. Four years later, he finished 7th at Sydney 2000. Leon Machon is often compared to Michael Phelps. Leon Machon's mother, Celine, competed in four events at Barcelona 1992. She finished 14th in the 200m individual medley.
Let us tell you, Leon Mashon has been trained by Michael Phelps' former guru Bob Bowman. Leon Mashon swam for three years at Arizona State University in America. After that he went to the University of Texas with Bowman. Before the Olympics started, Bowman had said that Leon has many things that make him great. He has speed and he has endurance. So he has everything you want, and so far he has performed well under pressure, which is the other part of that equation. He really has everything. Now Leon Mashon has shown it by playing such a game.
