8 days of sports have ended in Paris Olympics 2024. India has won 3 medals so far and has slipped from 47th position to 50th in the medal tally. 117 athletes from India participated in a total of 16 sports. After 8 days, events of 6 of these sports have been completed. In the next 8 days, Indian athletes will present their claim in 10 more sports. On the 8th day of the Olympics, India had the opportunity to win 3 more medals, but Indian athletes missed it. Manu Bhaker, Deepika Kumari and Bhajan Kaur tried but they failed to get the fourth medal for India.

Manu missed out on making a record

Manu Bhaker had a chance to win her third Olympic medal in the 25m pistol event of women's shooting. The 22-year-old shooter had started well and was in fourth place after the second series. She performed brilliantly in the third series and reached number 2. After this, she kept hitting the target in the 5th, 6th and 7th series and remained in second place. A medal seemed certain in her name, but she finished in fourth place and missed the bronze medal by just one point. With this, she could not even make the record of the Indian winning the most Olympic medals. Not only this, she could also have a record of 3 medals in one Olympics.

Deepika-Bhajan Kaur disappointed

After Manu Bhaker, medal hopes were from Indian archers Deepika Kumari and Bhajan Kaur. Both had entered the pre-quarterfinals in the individual event of women's archery. Bhajan Kaur was eliminated after losing against Indonesia's Dianda Chorunisa. On the other hand, Deepika Kumari performed well in this round against Germany's Michelle Kroppen and qualified for the quarterfinals. However, in the next round, she had to face defeat in a thrilling match against Korea. With this, both the players lost the chance to win a medal.

Anantjeet Singh was also eliminated from the men's shooting skeet event. His performance was very disappointing and he could not qualify for the finals. Anantjeet finished 24th. A total of 30 shooters participated in this event, out of which the top-6 qualified for the finals.

One more final chance in shooting update

The first day of qualification for the women's shooting skeet event also ended. Raiza Dhillon and Maheshwari Chauhan are participating from India in this. After the first day, Maheshwari is in 8th place and Raiza is in 25th place. There are 2 more rounds left for qualification, which will be held on Sunday, August 4. A total of 29 shooters are participating in this, in which the top-6 will qualify for the final. That is, if Maheshwari performs well, she will be able to make it to the final. Apart from this, Vishnu Saravanan has finished in 23rd place in the men's event of sailing, while in its women's event, Netra Kumanan ended the day in 24th place. After the completion of 10 races in this event, the top-10 players will compete for the medal match. At the same time, Gaganjeet Bhullar and Shubhankar Sharma reached the fourth round in golf.
