The first match of the ODI series was played between India and Sri Lanka (IND vs SL 1st ODI) in Colombo on Friday, July 2, in which seven players bowled for India. Among these players was Shubman Gill (Shubman Gill) were also included, so now the question in the minds of the fans is why did the last batsman bowl despite having 6 bowlers. Let us tell you that the reason behind this has come to light.
Actually, Gautam Gambhir has become the new head coach of the Indian team and now he wants some of the top order batsmen of Team India to also do some bowling so that the team has some additional options in difficult times. After the first ODI match played between India and Sri Lanka, Team India's new bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule spoke openly on this.
He said, 'You all must have seen in the T20 series that Rinku Singh and Suryakumar Yadav contributed in bowling and also won the match. Similarly, Shubman Gill was given a chance today. In the coming days, it is going to be an all-rounder's game, but if any of the top 4-5 players is able to bowl, then it is always helpful for the team.'
He further said, 'In the coming time, you will see contributions from them (batsmen). It will depend on the pitch and the conditions, the way we can use our bowlers. A batsman who can bowl can surprise the opposition team with his bowling. I am sure that in the future, batsmen will have many opportunities to bowl.'
It has become clear from the statement of Team India's bowling coach that in the coming time, Team India's batsmen will also be seen bowling on many occasions. Let us tell you that apart from Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer was also seen practicing bowling in the nets recently. Apart from this, even Suryakumar Yadav and Rinku Singh bowled during the T20 series.
Also know that Team India had included 3 all-rounders in its playing eleven in the first ODI match against Sri Lanka and here Shivam Dubey also got a chance to bowl.
