The Indian men's hockey team has made it to the semi-finals of the Paris Olympics 2024 by playing brilliantly. India defeated Britain 4-2 in a shootout in the quarter-finals on Sunday. Congratulations are being given from all over the country for the excellent performance of the Indian hockey team. Many leaders and actors are constantly congratulating on social media platforms. Meanwhile, former Indian hockey player and son of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, Ashok Kumar also gave his reaction.
Ashok Kumar said that the way the Indian men's hockey team played throughout the Olympics, the team has given the message that they are fully prepared to win the gold medal. India played exceptionally well and won the quarter-finals with just 10 players. The team's goalkeeper PR Sreejesh played exceptionally well and did not give the opposition any chance to score.
On the Indian team reaching the men's hockey semi-finals, Anishya, wife of Indian hockey team's goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, said that today's match was very important for us. The team performed very well. Sreejesh played well as always. This is Sreejesh's fourth and last Olympics. She said that the expectations of medals from Team India are very high. After winning the bronze medal last time, this time we are expecting a gold medal.
An atmosphere of happiness was also seen at the house of Indian hockey team player Gurjant Singh, who lives in Jandiala Guru, Amritsar. Cabinet Minister Harbhajan ETO also congratulated Gurjant Singh's father over the phone. His father Baldev Singh said that he is very proud of the team and today they played a very good match and when the team was reduced from 11 to 10 players, he felt scared for a moment but all the players of the hockey team played well and won. He said that we hope that after this the Indian hockey team will definitely return with a gold medal.
It is worth noting that the Indian hockey team won the gold medal for India in 1980. After this, India has not been able to win the gold medal till date and once the Indian hockey team reaches the semi-finals, India is expected to win the gold medal once again.
