These days Olympic Games are being organized in Paris. More than 10 thousand athletes from all over the world are participating in it. Players are ready to devote their entire life and work very hard for these games which are held every four years. Still, there are only a few players whose dream of winning a medal is fulfilled. Some players are at the heights of success and achieve immense wealth and fame on the basis of their ability, yet the dream of becoming an Olympic champion remains unfulfilled. One such dream, which seemed to be incomplete, has finally been fulfilled. The player, who achieved all the success in his game and earned crores, has also fulfilled his dream of becoming an Olympic champion. This player is Novak Djokovic.
Novak Djokovic, the most successful male player in tennis history, has achieved the feat that he had been missing for many years. The Serbian superstar won the men's singles gold medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. Djokovic, who has been trying to win an Olympic gold for his country Serbia for years, has finally achieved this success. Djokovic won his first gold medal by defeating Spain's Carlos Alcaraz 7-6, 7-6 in straight sets in the final. With this, his wait for an Olympic gold is over and his name has been included in a special list.
In the tennis matches being played on the clay court of the famous Grand Slam French Open, Djokovic was facing the challenge of 22-year-old young star Alcaraz, who had won the French Open title on the same court 2 months ago. Last month, he defeated Djokovic in the Wimbledon final. In such a situation, once again the Spanish star was being considered a contender for victory compared to Djokovic, but 37-year-old Djokovic did not let this happen. There was a tough fight between the two for every point and due to this the first set itself lasted for 94 minutes i.e. one and a half hours.

There was a similar tough competition in the second set and this set also lasted for 1 hour. Finally both the sets were decided by tie breaker and after a tiring match of two and a half hours, Djokovic won the final. As soon as Djokovic won the match by hitting the last winner, he fell on the court and started crying loudly like a small child. His hands were also shaking but these were all tears of happiness and relief.
Djokovic, who has a wealth of about 2010 crores, has won the most 24 Grand Slam titles in his professional career. He has won every Grand Slam more than twice. Still, the Olympic Gold was eluding him. Before this, Djokovic could not even reach the finals of Rio Olympics 2016 and Tokyo 2020. This was his first final and he did wonders in the very first final. With this, he became only the fifth player in tennis history to complete the 'Career Golden Slam' i.e. win all four Grand Slams and Olympic Gold in a career. Before him, only Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams had done this feat in singles.
