Rohit Sharma: A 3-match ODI series is currently being played between Team India and Sri Lanka (IND VS SL) at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The third match of the 3-match ODI series against Sri Lanka will be played on 7 August.
Before the third match of the ODI series to be held on 7 August, there are reports in the media that Rohit Sharma is out of the third ODI match. After which it is now believed that this player will be seen captaining Team India in place of Rohit.

During the second match of the ODI series between India and Sri Lanka (IND VS SL) on 4th August, when Rohit Sharma was batting brilliantly while chasing the target of 241 runs, he suffered a hamstring problem in the 13th over of the innings. In the very next over, Rohit Sharma returned to the pavilion on a score of 64.
According to media persons present in Sri Lanka, Rohit Sharma neither batted, nor bowled, nor did any fielding drills during Team India's practice session before the third ODI match. This indicates that Rohit Sharma may not be seen playing for Team India in the third T20 match.
Rohit Sharma didn't bat at all today – No batting no bowling – no fielding drills –
In last game over 12.5 attended by team physio while batting – There is some discomfort on that right thigh
Today's rest looks like precautionary #RohitSharma @RevSportzGlobal pic.twitter.com/iyN6Mu24rI— Rohit Juglan (@rohitjuglan) August 6, 2024
If Rohit Sharma is not included in the playing 11 in the third match of the ongoing ODI series against Sri Lanka, then this could cause a huge loss to Team India in the third match.
Firstly, Rohit Sharma is an experienced captain. He knows how to bring the team out of pressure situations and secondly, in the ongoing ODI series against Sri Lanka, Rohit Sharma is the only Indian batsman who has displayed excellent batting performance in both the matches. In such a situation, winning the third ODI match without Rohit Sharma can prove to be a big challenge for Team India.
Shubman Gill has been given the responsibility of vice-captaincy in Team India's squad for the ongoing ODI series against Sri Lanka. Under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, Team India won the T20 series against Zimbabwe by 4-1, but this is the first time that Shubman Gill will be seen captaining Team India in ODI cricket.
