On the 11th day of Paris Olympics, the entry of Vinesh Phogat and Neeraj Chopra in the finals was the biggest success for India. Vinesh ensured a medal by reaching the final in the 50 kg category of women's wrestling. Not only this, she has become the first Indian to reach the final of wrestling. In the final, she will face Sarah Hildebrandt of America, even if she loses, at least the silver medal will be in her name.
On the other hand, Neeraj Chopra made it to the finals with his very first throw. Neeraj made it to the finals by directly throwing 89.34 meters. Crossing 84 meters is necessary for direct qualification to the finals. Neeraj has thrown his best throw ever in the qualification of any tournament. Not only this, Neeraj also threw his best throw of this season. After his performance in the qualification round, he is once again being considered a contender for the gold medal.
Apart from Neeraj, javelin thrower Kishore Jena threw the javelin 80.73 meters in the qualification. With this mark, he finished 9th in his group, but could not make it to the top-12 in both groups A and B. Therefore, he could not qualify for the final.
