She stood firm, stood firm and kept fighting… the name of the person who did this has become known not only to the country but also to the world. Her name is Vinesh Phogat. This girl from Haryana has made India proud in the Maha Kumbh of sports being held in Paris. This is the same Vinesh Phogat for whom many things were said till a few months ago. When she was demanding justice, she was called a pawn of the opposition. When she was raising her voice against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh at Jantar Mantar, the police had a scuffle with her. In the eyes of the police, she had become an 'enemy' of the country. She was not even allowed to go to Parliament. Vinesh also thought, okay, do whatever you want to do. This is your action. My action will be seen in the Olympics. I will calm everyone from there.

This time Vinesh Phogat went to the Olympics determined to defeat not only the opposing team but also the opponents sitting at home. Vinesh did what she decided. She made it to the finals of the women's 50 kg category in the Olympics. She created history by doing this. With this it is certain that Vinesh will not return to India empty-handed. She will have a medal with her. Vinesh has raised the flag in Paris. But before going there, she had also won the wrestling competition in Delhi.

He had won the Delhi Dangal

His opponent in the Delhi Dangal was Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, former president of Wrestling Federation of India. Brij Bhushan has been a BJP MP from Kaiserganj in UP. Many female wrestlers including Vinesh and Sakshi had accused Brij Bhushan of molestation, sexual exploitation and arbitrariness. Last year, wrestlers protested at Jantar Mantar. They wanted to go to the new Parliament. But the police stopped them. The matter reached the court. All this was happening when the Lok Sabha elections were about to be held in the country. After these allegations, BJP came on the back foot.

BJP had to bow down in front of many wrestlers including Vinesh, Sakshi and Bajrang Punia and had to cancel Brijbhushan Sharan Singh's ticket. The party fielded his son in the election. He also won. But cancelling Brijbhushan's ticket and not allowing him to enter the Parliament was a big victory for Vinesh and Sakshi. They stopped Brijbhushan, who has a lot of influence in Kaiserganj, from becoming an MP. Vinesh and Sakshi put a brake on the political journey of Brijbhushan, in front of whom his opponents cannot stand.

On Vinesh Phogat's victory, wrestler Bajrang Punia said that the medal is a slap on Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh's face. Bajrang Punia said, I am troubled by the fact that when these daughters of the country were protesting at Jantar Mantar last year, the Government of India did not say a word. Now that they have done well, how can you claim them to be the daughters of the country.

The journey has been filled with pain and tears

Vinesh's journey to the Olympics has been full of pain and tears. Vinesh was considered a strong contender for a medal in the Rio Olympics. She had also started brilliantly. In the first match, she won 11-0 on the basis of technical superiority. But in the quarter-finals, she got injured in the match against China's Sun Yanan. Crying Vinesh Phogat was taken off the mat on a stretcher. Vinesh was not only forced to withdraw from Rio 2016, but she also had to undergo surgery. She stayed away from the game for several months. She made a comeback in 2018. She got a chance to do something in the Tokyo Olympics. But she could not go beyond the quarter-finals.

After the defeat, the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) initiated disciplinary action against Vinesh for her conduct in Tokyo. The WFI revoked her suspension. Vinesh withdrew her name from the trials for the World Championships in 2021. Within a few days, she underwent elbow surgery. Vinesh posted on her social media after the surgery, Elbow surgery done. No matter how many times I fall, I will still get up.

She bounced back from that setback in 2022 and won a bronze medal at the World Wrestling Championships in Belgrade and a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. But she had to undergo another elbow surgery in June 2023. Vinesh Phogat was getting ready for the Asian Games when another trouble struck. She injured her left knee during a training session in August.

The doctor said that the injury can be cured only through surgery. Then Vinesh said that it was my dream to retain the Asian Games gold medal for India which I won in Jakarta in 2018. But unfortunately I will not be able to participate due to this injury. So there were many obstacles in Vinesh's journey, but this strong girl stood firm. She was determined not to give up. Due to this spirit of hers, India is waiting for gold in the Olympics.
