Bangladesh: Team India is currently playing the ODI series on the Sri Lanka tour. Team India has not won in the two matches played so far in the ODI series. Due to which, if Team India wants to avoid losing the ongoing ODI series against Sri Lanka, then Team India will have to win the last ODI match against Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, according to media reports, as soon as the Sri Lanka tour ends, the selection committee can announce the Indian team squad for the Test series against Bangladesh. According to reports, it is believed that Rohit and Kohli will not get a chance to participate in the Bangladesh Test series.
The selection committee may decide to give rest to Team India's Test captain Rohit Sharma and veteran batsman Virat Kohli in the Bangladesh Test series starting from 19 September. By giving them rest from the Bangladesh Test series, the selection committee wants to keep both the veteran players fresh for the Australia Test series to be held at the end of the year. Due to which veteran players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah can be given rest in the Bangladesh Test series.
Team India's star batsman Shubman Gill has recently been given the responsibility of vice-captaincy of the team in the white ball format by the BCCI. According to media reports related to Shubman Gill, BCCI can give the responsibility of vice-captaincy of the team to Shubman Gill in the Test format as well before the Bangladesh Test series.
Due to which, if the selection committee gives rest to great players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli during the Bangladesh Test series, then Shubman Gill can get a chance to captain in the Bangladesh Test series.
