In the history of Olympics, India has had to struggle for medals for a long time. Many times Indian athletes and fans have been heartbroken when they came very close to winning a medal but missed it because they lost speed in the last second or scored a goal in the last minute or the last shot missed the target and had to settle for fourth place. The entire history of Indian Olympics is full of many such occasions and in Paris Olympics 2024, 5 medals slipped out of hand like this but it never happened that a medal was certain and yet it was lost because a rule was violated. Star wrestler Vinesh Phogat became a victim of this misfortune and the reason was her weight, which is a more difficult task for any wrestler than wrestling.

Within just 12 hours at the Paris Olympics, the hearts of 140 crore Indian fans were broken, their dreams were shattered. On Tuesday night, 6 August, at around 11 pm, the whole of India was celebrating because Vinesh had made it to the finals of the Paris Olympics, creating history. She had become the first Indian woman wrestler to do so. On the night of Wednesday, 7 August, she would have competed in the gold medal match, in which she would have returned with at least a silver medal. But on Wednesday morning, at around 11 am, the news of Vinesh being disqualified broke the heart of the whole country.

Losing weight is the most difficult thing, not wrestling

Vinesh was out because she was participating in the 50 kg category but on the day of the final, her weight was 100 grams more. This broke the heart of the entire country including Vinesh and questions started arising as to why this happened? Rio Olympics medalist wrestler Sakshi Malik has told such people that losing weight is more difficult for wrestlers than wrestling. Sakshi said during a show that wrestling is not very difficult for wrestlers because they have been training for it since childhood and they enjoy it.

you will not get any medal

Malik stressed that losing weight is the most difficult task as it affects the body and is more difficult than wrestling or training. Sakshi Malik, who protested shoulder to shoulder with Vinesh on the road, said that she is very sad after hearing about the star wrestler and knows what difficulties she must have gone through. As far as Vinesh is concerned, due to a weight gain of 100 grams, she not only got out of the final, but she was disqualified from the entire competition and she will not get any medal.
