India had high hopes from Neeraj Chopra in Paris Olympics 2024. He won the gold medal by performing brilliantly in Tokyo Olympics but the javelin throw final in Paris was very tough. Neeraj's opponent, Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan, created an Olympic record with a tremendous throw of 92.97 meters and won the gold medal. In response to him, Neeraj was able to do a breast throw of 89.45 meters in 6 attempts and won the silver medal and created history. In this way, he became only the fourth Indian to win two Olympic medals and only the first athlete to do so in athletics. Despite this, he looked dissatisfied after the match and has already blown the trumpet for the next Olympics to be held in America.
Neeraj Chopra gave an interview after winning the silver. During this, he expressed his happiness over having the medal and the tricolor in his hand. However, it could be clearly guessed from his face and words that he was dissatisfied with it. Neeraj admitted that there was a very tough competition in the final. He said after the match that he has not been able to play as per the need due to injury for a long time. He is not able to work properly on his mistakes. Neeraj further said about the final that despite Arshad's record throw, he had the confidence that he would surpass him. Although he had never been able to throw 90 meters, but this time he had a lot of passion, but he failed to do so. In the end, he praised Arshad and said that he blew the trumpet for the next Olympics and said that the game is not over yet and a lot is left. In such a situation, it can be said that he has challenged Arshad Nadeem from now on.

Neeraj may not have won gold but he made many records in his name. 26-year-old Neeraj has become the first Indian athlete to win two medals in athletics at the Olympics. He is also the first Indian to win two Olympic and two World Championship medals in athletics. Apart from this, he has also become the first Asian athlete to win two Olympic medals in javelin throw. Not only this, he is only the fourth Indian athlete to win a medal in two consecutive Olympics. Apart from Neeraj, only Sushil Kumar (2008, 2012), PV Sindhu (2016, 2020) and Manu Bhaker (both 2024) have been able to do such a feat.
