India's hopes of returning from Paris Olympics 2024 with 'double digit' medals were already shattered. Some hopes of winning the gold medal had already been dashed. Still, one last and biggest bet was left - Neeraj Chopra. Neeraj, who created history by winning the gold medal in javelin throw for India in Tokyo Olympics, was expected to repeat the same feat in Paris as well. Neeraj might have done this if he was not struggling with the problem which poses a big threat to the career of many players. Yes, Neeraj, who won the silver medal in Paris, is suffering from hernia and this problem proved to be an obstacle in his path during the javelin final as well.

Neeraj Chopra failed to defend his title in the javelin final held on 8 August at the Paris Olympics. Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem won the gold medal with an Olympic record throw of 92.27 meters. However, Neeraj did not return empty-handed from here as well and created history by winning the silver medal. Neeraj threw 89.45 meters in the final, which was his best this season.

Neeraj has been struggling for a year

After missing out on the gold, Neeraj revealed that he is suffering from hernia. He told about his injury while talking to a private channel. Neeraj explained his problem in detail and said that due to this he is constantly having pain in the groin area. It is not that he had this problem only during the Paris Olympics, but he came to know about it only last year and consulted doctors.

Now I will have to undergo surgery!

However, Neeraj then decided not to take any major action in view of the World Championship and then the Paris Olympics this year. Regarding the injury, Neeraj said that when he runs to throw the javelin, the groin area is under the most pressure. Due to the problem in this area, he could participate in very few tournaments this year. He also suffered from this problem during the finals and it affected his performance. Neeraj said that he along with his team will get the doctor to examine him, after which a decision will be taken on surgery.
