What Sachin Tendulkar said in the case of Vinesh Phogat is a big message for the Olympics and world wrestling

The case of Vinesh Phogat's disqualification in Paris Olympics 2024 has shocked the whole country. Indian fans are extremely disappointed and angry in this matter, along with this the celebrities of the country are also unhappy with it. Everyone was celebrating that the country has got another medal in the Olympics, which could have been gold as well, but all this happiness went up in smoke when Vinesh was declared ineligible. In such a situation, everyone is raising their voice against it and the great cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has also supported Vinesh in this matter. Sachin has called this decision irrational and has demanded a change in the rules.

Vinesh had made it to the finals in the 50 kg weight category at the Paris Olympics by defeating 3 wrestlers including world number one Yui Susaki. She was the first Indian woman wrestler to reach the finals. However, after winning the semi-finals, her weight suddenly increased by 2 kg, to reduce which she worked hard all night with her team. Still, during the weight check on the morning of the final, it was found to be 100 grams more.

The decision to disqualify Vinesh is beyond logic

Due to this 100 grams, Vinesh was disqualified from the entire event including the final. Sachin Tendulkar has also raised questions on this and said that removing her from the final is understandable but excluding her from the entire event is wrong. Sachin said in a post on 'X' that the rules of the game need to be seen in their context and should be reconsidered if needed. He said that Vinesh had qualified for the final in a completely correct manner and her disqualification due to weight happened only before the final. The legendary cricketer said that taking away the silver from Vinesh is beyond logic and understanding.

Sachin, while strongly putting forward Vinesh's side, also said that if someone violated the ethics of the game or used performance enhancing substances, then it would have been understandable to disqualify him and put him in the last position, but Vinesh did not do anything like that. Calling Vinesh the rightful owner of the silver medal, he expressed hope that the CAS decision will come in her favor.

Will there be relief from CAS?

Let us tell you that Vinesh has appealed against this decision in CAS, which is the largest independent court for settling disputes related to sports in the whole world. The hearing in this case was held on Friday, August 9, on which the decision will come before the Olympics end. Vinesh had earlier demanded to stop the final, which was rejected by CAS. After this, Vinesh has demanded to be given a joint silver medal and the hearing is going on on this.
