Aman Sehrawat won India's first medal in wrestling at the Paris Olympics on Friday. He was the only male wrestler from India to qualify for the Paris Olympics and he did not disappoint. India has won a medal in wrestling in every Olympics since 2008 and Aman continued this trend.

On wrestler Aman Sehrawat winning bronze medal in 57kg category, his eight-year-old brother Amit Sehrawat said that like my brother, I will also bring gold medal (for the country).

Let us tell you that on Friday, in the bronze medal match of 57 kg freestyle category, Aman defeated Puerto Rico's Darian Toi Cruz 13-5 on points. Under 23 world champion Aman lost 0-10 to Japan's Rei Higuchi in the semi-finals. He was the only male wrestler from India to qualify for the Paris Olympics.

India has won a medal in wrestling in every Olympics since 2008 and Aman continued this trend. Sushil Kumar won bronze in Beijing (2008), Yogeshwar Dutt in London (2012), Sakshi Malik in Rio (2016), Ravi Dahiya and Bajrang Punia won silver and bronze respectively in Tokyo 2021. He put pressure from the beginning in the bronze medal match and did not give much chance to his opponent.

This is India's sixth medal in the Paris Olympics. Earlier, in shooting, Manu Bhaker (10 m air pistol), Manu Bharat and Sarabjot Singh (10 m air pistol mixed team), Swapnil Kusale (50 m rifle three positions) and the Indian men's hockey team won bronze medals, while star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal.
