Team India: Due to the tough competition to make a place in the Indian cricket team, many Indian cricketers go to other countries of the world to play cricket and there are many cricketers of Indian origin whose parents have settled in other countries and after being born there, they started playing for the respective countries. One such Indian is the one who has now left India and become the chief selector of the US cricket team.

Indian-origin California-born Ravi Timbawala has been appointed as the chief selector of the USA cricket team. He replaced Michael Voss, who was the chairman for four years. Timbawala is 35 years old and is still an active cricketer, having last played for the USA in 2017. He appeared in the 2023 Minor League T20 for Lashings. Timbawala has been made the head of the team along with Nasir Jamali, Ritesh Kadu, Barrington Bartle and Sunny Sohal.

He was made a selector before the T20 World Cup

Ravi Timbawala was given the responsibility of the selector post before the T20 World Cup. The selection committee was facing challenges when the inclusion of international players like Corey Anderson, Harmeet Singh, Unmukt Chand and Andries Gaus as well as the exclusion of American expatriates like Gannon and Hamilton made the selection difficult.

Other selectors have also played matches

Similarly, 34-year-old Nasir Jamali also last played for the USA in 2015, but he is active in the MiLC circuit, most recently playing matches with the Dallas Mustangs in 2023. However, the selection committee did not include cricketer Unmukt Chand, who led the Indian cricket team to victory in the Under-19 World Cup, in the US cricket team for the T20 World Cup. After which Chand was very disappointed.
