Due to the withdrawal of Hardik Pandya's name, Team India's condition in the ODI format was bad and Team India was defeated by the Sri Lankan team in the ODI format series after 27 years.

Team management expressed confidence in Shubman Gill instead of Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya was the vice-captain of Team India's white ball format for the last 2 years.
