All the claims, speculations and hopes have once again been shattered. Once again the wish of the fans to see the biggest players of Team India playing domestic cricket remained unfulfilled. The BCCI has announced the squad for the Duleep Trophy, the first major tournament of the domestic cricket season, but Virat Kohli and Team India captain Rohit Sharma will not play in it. The selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar announced the India A, India B, India C and India D teams for the first round of the Duleep Trophy, for which 4 captains including Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill have also been appointed.

These 4 giants will not be seen

Team India has to play its next series from 19th September, which will be against Bangladesh. Team India will play 2 test matches in this series. Just before that, the domestic season is starting with Duleep Trophy. In such a situation, BCCI had also ordered the regular members of Team India to play in this tournament, so that they can prepare for the test series. Although it was also claimed that Rohit and Virat can also play in this tournament, but it was not made mandatory for them and both could decide to play or not play as per their choice. Apart from them, veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was also given this facility, while star pacer Jaspreet Bumrah was already given leave.

In such a situation, it was expected that Rohit and Virat would be seen playing at least in the first round match and the fans would get to see a clash between the two players, but now this will not happen because both of them have decided not to play in it. Apart from these, all the other members of the team will play, in which the return of Rishabh Pant is also special, who will play red ball cricket for the first time after December 2022. As far as captaincy is concerned, Shubman Gill has been made the captain of India A, Abhimanyu Easwaran of India B, Rituraj Gaikwad of India C and Shreyas Iyer of India D.
