During the England-Sri Lanka Test series in 2014, Stuart Broad and his girlfriend were terrified by paranormal activity at the Langham Hotel in London. The England fast bowler told how the bathroom taps mysteriously turned on and off by themselves amid the unbearable heat. He even changed his room to avoid this frightening act, but his sleep was gone. Apart from Broad, Ben Stokes and others also felt a strange presence on the third floor of the hotel.
Dinesh Karthik had revealed an incident that happened to him during India's 2013 tour of South Africa. Speaking to Cricbuzz, Karthik revealed that he saw mysterious activities in his room at night, which he described as a scary experience. This terrifying experience in a quiet resort left him shaken and he kept looking over his shoulder throughout the tour.
During Pakistan's tour of New Zealand in early 2015, batsman Harris Sohail faced a problem that was not at all normal. One night at the Rydes Latimer Hotel in Christchurch, Sohail felt his bed shaking violently, as if an invisible force had gripped him. He was later found in his room in a state of shock and fever and described how the supernatural event had woken him from his sleep.
Too scared to be alone, he spent the entire night in his coach's room. The incident upset him so much that he pulled out of a practice match the next day, The Guardian reports.
Such an incident happened with former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson in 2005, when he stayed at Lumley Castle. This place is quite famous among cricketers for its ghostly incidents. The Australian all-rounder was so disturbed by the scary atmosphere that he left his room and went to sleep on the floor of his teammate Brett Lee.
During India's tour of England in 2002, captain Sourav Ganguly's stay at Lumley Castle in Durham was not at all comfortable. In Ian Botham's book, “Beefy's Cricket Tales”, he mentions the incident of how Ganguly woke up several times to the sound of water running from the taps, but on checking, the taps were always found to be closed. Disturbed by this incident, Ganguly spent the night on the floor with his teammate Robin Uthappa.
