Team India: Team India and New Zealand (IND VS NZ) will play a 3 Test match series in the month of October 2024. After playing a 3 Test match series against New Zealand in the year 2024, Team India will go on a tour of Australia. Team India has to play a series of 5 Test matches on the Australia tour. Team India will play 10 Test matches in the upcoming season but once the World Test Championship cycle ends, then Team India will once again play more and more matches in ODI cricket.
In this connection, the New Zealand Cricket Board and BCCI have talked about organizing a 3 ODI match series on mutual agreement. Due to which it is believed that Shubman Gill will get the responsibility of captaincy in the team squad to be selected for the 3 ODI series against New Zealand, while the names of veteran batsmen Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will not be included in the team squad.

Team India has to play a series of 3 ODIs and 3 T20 matches against New Zealand on Indian soil in the month of January 2026. The schedule of all these matches has not been decided yet but it is believed that this ODI series can be very important for Team India for the preparations of World Cup 2027.
Shubman Gill may get the responsibility of captaining the team for the 3 ODI series against New Zealand in the month of January 2026. It is believed that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma may say goodbye to international cricket after the World Test Championship 2025. Due to which, Shubman Gill, the current vice-captain of Team India, can be given the big responsibility of captaining Team India.
After the retirement of veteran players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from the ODI format, the selection committee can give a chance to many star young players in the team squad. As these players, young players like Sai Sudarshan, Rituraj Gaikwad, Rinku Singh can get a chance to represent Team India in the ODI format on a regular basis.
