Team India's fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been away from international cricket for a long time. He played his last match for Team India during the 2023 ODI World Cup. He got injured during this tournament. Due to which he underwent ankle surgery earlier this year. He is currently undergoing his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Fans are eagerly waiting for his return. A big update has come out regarding when he will finally return to the field.
According to reports, Mohammed Shami is likely to return to competitive cricket for his domestic team Bengal in the Ranji Trophy. After this, he can return to international cricket from the Test series to be played against New Zealand. It is believed that Shami can play in Bengal's opening Ranji match against UP on October 11. After this, Bengal has to play its second match against Bihar in Kolkata from October 18. There is only a gap of two days between the two matches, so it is very unlikely that he will play in the second match as well.
On the other hand, the Test series against New Zealand will start from October 19 in Bengaluru. Three Test matches are to be played between the two teams and then the Indian team will tour Australia. In such a situation, Shami is expected to play a match against New Zealand before going on a big tour of Australia. Let us tell you, Shami played his last match for Team India in the final of the ODI World Cup, which was played against Australia in Ahmedabad on November 19.
Mohammed Shami has started bowling in the nets. He recently shared a video in which he was seen bowling. Let us tell you, Shami has played 64 Tests, 101 ODIs and 23 T20 matches for Team India so far. He has taken 229 wickets in Tests, 195 wickets in ODIs and 24 in T20s. He is one of the most important bowlers of the team. In such a situation, his return is no less than a big good news for Team India.
