Khalil said, “We were in New Zealand, Mahi bhai's fans gave him flowers, he passed it on to me and some fans took photos, it was very memorable for me. Mahi bhai is not my friend, not my elder brother, he is my guru. Since childhood, I wanted to be the bowler to bowl the first over for India because I saw Zaheer Khan growing up. In the Asia Cup, Mahi bhai asked me to bowl the first over. I ran very hard, away from the crowd thinking that if I gave him time, he might change his mind.”
