It is not easy to play a big innings and return after finishing the match while batting at number six. But, he did both these things for India in an important match like the World Cup Final. However, now the story is different. The player who created a stir in the World Cup Final has now broken ties with India. We are talking about Smit Patel, a cricketer from Gujarat who created a stir in the 2012 Under 19 World Cup Final and has now started playing cricket from USA.
Due to lack of opportunities, Smit Patel left India and went to America 3 years ago, where he is now getting a chance to show his talent. Currently, he has demonstrated his ability in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 match being played in the Netherlands and has led the team to victory. The special thing is that Smit Patel has also made his debut for USA from this tournament.
In the match played against Canada on 19 August, USA registered a big win by 50 runs, in which Smit Patel played a big role with the bat. USA batted first against Canada, in which Smit Patel played a brilliant innings of 70 runs with the help of 11 fours while opening. This is Smit's biggest innings in a short career of 3 matches in ODI. Earlier, on 13 August, he had scored 63 runs in his debut match against Canada.
In the first 3 ODIs of his international career, Smit Patel has scored 171 runs with the help of 23 sixes and fours. During this period, his average was 57 and he scored 2 half-centuries. He hit 22 fours and 1 six. His performance in the first 3 ODIs clearly shows that he has a bright future in the USA team.
Smit Patel played the Under 19 World Cup for India in 2012 as a wicketkeeper batsman, where he played a brilliant innings at number six in the final. Although Unmukt Chand, who scored 111 runs, became the Player of the Match in that final against Australia, the role of Smit Patel, who finished the match by playing an unbeaten innings of 62 runs in 84 balls, cannot be ignored.
As far as the USA vs Canada match is concerned, USA batted first in this match and scored 275 runs for 8 wickets in 50 overs. In reply, the Canadian team could not play the full 50 overs and was all out after scoring 225 runs in just 47 overs. In this way, USA won the match by 50 runs.
