Two months after failing miserably in the T20 World Cup, the Pakistani team returned to the field once again and its return was not that good. Pakistan's decision to scare the Bangladeshi team with fast bowlers by making a green pitch in Rawalpindi backfired on it. Its top order failed miserably in the first match of the Test series. Batsmen like Babar Azam and captain Shan Masood were dismissed cheaply. Especially former captain Babar Azam faced such a situation which had never happened before in his entire career.

The test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh started on Wednesday 21st August at Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi. This test match was already in the news due to the Pakistani team playing with only 4 fast bowlers and the green pitch of Pindi ground. Then on the day of the match, the match started late due to the wet ground, due to which Pakistani fans must have been hoping that their team would bowl first and finish Bangladesh quickly but the whole script turned upside down.

Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bowl first and its fast bowlers destroyed Pakistan's top order. Especially the team's biggest batsman Babar Azam flopped badly. In the 9th over, while trying to play the ball of left-arm fast bowler Shariful Islam on the leg stump, he was caught out by the wicketkeeper. The surprising thing is that Babar could face only 2 balls and got out without opening his account. The result was that by the ninth over itself, Pakistan lost 3 wickets. Babar Azam got out on a 'duck' (out on zero) for the 8th time in Test cricket but this has hurt him the most.

In fact, for the first time in his career, Babar got out without opening his account in a Test match being played in Pakistan. Before this, when he got out on zero on 7 occasions, all those happened abroad. However, Babar had been successful in opening his account for 36 consecutive innings before this and for the first time after April 2021, he got out on a 'duck'. On the other hand, with Babar's wicket, Pakistan lost 3 wickets for just 16 runs. Team opener Abdullah Shafiq could score only 2 and captain Shan Masood could score only 6 runs.
