The Pakistani team is currently failing to break the chain of continuous embarrassment on the cricket field. After losing the Asia Cup last year, then the miserable condition in the ODI World Cup, getting whitewashed in the Test series in Australia and then getting embarrassed in the T20 World Cup this year, another shameful day has been added to the history of the Pakistani team. They had to face defeat in Test cricket for the first time at the hands of Bangladesh, that too in their home and by 10 wickets. There is anger in the whole of Pakistan on the poor performance of this team captained by Shan Masood and the players are having to listen to many things. Now the former president of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Rameez Raja, has exposed the fast bowlers of the team and has said that the reason behind this is the beating by Team India.
In the Rawalpindi Test, the Pakistani team went with four fast bowlers, a decision on which questions were raised even before the match. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah were leading the bowling attack in the Pakistani team, Khurram Shahzad and Mohammad Ali were also there to support them, but all these four bowlers could not make any significant impact. Not only did their bowling look dull, but there was no high speed in it either. Especially the speed and skill of left-handed star pacer Shaheen came under question. The Bangladeshi batsmen faced them without any trouble and scored 565 runs in the first innings.
Such performance of the current pace department of Pakistan, which is famous for its stormy and deadly fast bowlers like Wasim Akram, Waqar Younus, Imran Khan and Shoaib Akhtar, has raised questions and Pakistani fans seem very unhappy with it. Everyone is giving different reasons for this and one such reason was given by the former captain of the team and former President of Pakistan Cricket Board Rameez Raja. Rameez said that the reputation of Pakistani fast bowlers has also ended, on the basis of which they were selected in the team.
He said that the lack of confidence in Pakistani bowlers is the main reason and said that it started during the Asia Cup last year, when Team India's batsmen thrashed their fast bowlers even in conditions favorable to fast bowlers. Rameez said that only after this, batsmen from all over the world came to know the secret that Pakistani fast bowlers can be dealt with only by attacking them.
The Asia Cup match that Rameez Raja is talking about was played in Colombo, Sri Lanka last year. Then the Indian team had scored 356 runs by thrashing the Pakistani bowlers. In that match, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul had scored quick centuries, while Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill also scored quick half-centuries. Pakistan had lost that match by a huge margin of 228 runs.
