Super Over is exciting in itself. And, when a player who has won gold medal in javelin throw is seen wreaking havoc in it, then the fun increases even more. Something similar was seen in the Women's Caribbean Premier League being held in West Indies. Deandra Dottin, who won gold medal in javelin throw in this league, helped her team win by scoring runs with the bat. Indian batsman Jemima Rodrigues also supported her a lot in this task during the Super Over.
It was the fourth match of WCPL 2024. Trinbago Knight Riders faced the challenge of Guyana Amazon Warriors. Trinbago Knight Riders batted first in the match and scored 128 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Deandra Dottin played a big role in taking the Knight Riders to this point, who scored 53 runs with 3 sixes and 6 fours in just 38 balls.
Thanks to the amazing innings of 33-year-old Deandra Dottin, the Knight Riders gave the Amazon Warriors a target of 129 runs, which they also failed to achieve. Thanks to the innings of 61 runs in 50 balls played by their batsman Erin Burns, they also scored 128 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. In this way, after playing 20-20 overs, the match between the two teams was tied.
After the match was tied, it reached the super over, where once again Deandra Dottin's havoc was seen. She faced 4 balls in the super over, in which she scored 13 runs with 2 sixes. In this way, she hit a total of 5 sixes in the match. At the same time, the remaining 2 balls of the super over were played by Indian batsman Jemima Rodrigues, who scored 6 runs with a four on it. In this way, Trinbago Knight Riders scored 19 runs in the super over without losing any wicket.
Now Guyana Amazon Warriors had a target of scoring 20 runs. But, in the super over, they lost both their wickets for only 5 runs. In this way, Trinbago Knight Riders defeated Guyana Amazon Warriors and registered their first win in the 3 matches played so far in WCPL 2024.
The one who led Trinbago Knight Riders to victory was Deandra Dottin, who had already achieved great success in the field of athletics before entering cricket. She started playing athletics events like javelin throw and shot put at the junior level at the age of 13-14 years. In 2007, she won gold in both javelin throw and shot put events in the CAC Junior Championship. After this, she also won gold in javelin throw in the Under 20 CARIFTA Games.
