The Champions Trophy dispute between India and Pakistan has now been resolved. The Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan next year will now be organized on hybrid model. This happened because the Indian government did not allow Team India to go to Pakistan for this tournament. Since then the dispute between India and Pakistan has increased. It has already affected one or two tournaments and now one more tournament seems to be affected by it. This is the Junior Hockey World Cup, for which Pakistan Hockey Federation has been ordered to take permission from the government before sending the team.

Permission will have to be taken from the government

FIH Junior World Cup is to be organized in India after exactly one year i.e. in December 2025, for which Pakistani team has also qualified. In such a situation, the hope is that the Pakistani team will also participate in it, but after the latest circumstances, the situation seems to be changing. Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) General Secretary Rana Mujahid, while talking to the media on Friday, December 20, told about this instruction of the government.

Mujahid told that the Pakistani team has received instructions that they will have to obtain a No Objection Certificate from the government before sending the team for the World Cup. That means only the Pakistani government will decide whether their junior hockey team will come to India for the World Cup or not. He also said that even before this, whenever there was any big tournament in India, his team has been allowed to participate in it without any problem, but this time they have been told that there will be no need to participate in the tournament and team selection. We will have to ask the government before.

Impact of Champions Trophy controversy?

PHF did not give the reason behind this but at the moment it can be assumed that it has to do with the Champions Trophy controversy. Team India had refused to go to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy and citing security threat as the reason for not getting permission from the Indian government. There was a lot of controversy regarding this and a solution was found with great difficulty. Not only the Champions Trophy, but also the Indian team was not given permission by the government to go to Pakistan for the Blind T20 World Cup held in Pakistan last month.
