The IPL 2025 has not even started yet and the BCCI seems to be in trouble with a match. There are reports that BCCI may have to change the schedule. This match is Kolkata Knight Riders vs. Lucknow Super Giants, which will compete on 6 April. On this day, the festival of Ram Navami is falling. Because of this, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to change the match time.
Cab has taken this step after the information received from the Kolkata Police and the local administration.
The administration has made it clear that due to the celebration of Ram Navami, he will not be able to provide adequate security arrangements for the match. According to a Sportstar report, CAB president Snehashish Ganguly said, "We held a long discussion with the administration and the police, where he made it clear that it would not be possible to provide tight security arrangements due to the festival. We have demanded BCCI to change the match time, and it is expected that the situation will be clear in the next few days.By the way, BCCI sources have indicated that it can be difficult to change the match time due to the tight schedule.
Instead, it is being considered whether the match can be shifted to some other place. A BCCI source said, "We have received a formal request from Cab, and we are finding out all the possibilities." He also informed that BCCI is interacting with the concerned teams and logistics team to find a solution.Last year, similar situations were created when KKR's home match was on the day of Ram Navami. At that time, the match time had to be changed.
This year LSG's ownership of Kolkata's cricket fans are excited about this match due to Kolkata's industrialist Sanjeev Goenka and being involved in the team of captain Rishabh Pant. The BCCI source said, "There will be more demand for match tickets, and we are expecting to find a solution as soon as possible." He also informed that there is a difference of one week between the two teams, due to which an alternative date is being considered. KKR will play against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on 11 April, while LSG will play home matches against Gujarat Titans on 12 April. Now it has to be seen how BCCI and Cab find a solution to this issue.
