Former Australian skipper Aaron Finch has advised Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain to give up his wicket-keeping role for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. LSG suffered their sixth defeat in the competition against the Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamshala on May 4. Chasing 237 runs, Lucknow fell 37 runs short and Pant recorded another failure with his bat.

The southpaw came to bat in the fifth over when his team was in immense trouble after scoring only 27/3.

In the crunch situation, he was expected to lead from the front, however, the 27-year-old again failed to hold his nerves and got dismissed after scoring only 18 runs off 17 balls. Following Pant's underwhelming batting and captaincy performances, Aaron Finch has advised the LSG captain to give up his gloves. The 2021 T20 World Cup winning captain emphasized on how wicketkeeper captains are facing trouble to communicate with their bowlers, after the advent of the stop-clock rule and stricter enforcement of over-rate regulations.

"It must be really difficult to captain a side when you're the wicket-keeper. The communication between you and your bowlers - you probably get a couple of seconds. Obviously, there's a lot of emphasis on the clock between overs, but you might have 10-15 seconds to chat to your bowler between overs," Aaron Finch said on JioStar.
